Poker Monster is a zombie-themed multiplayer online poker game. The game focuses on a more dynamic experience and is aimed at an audience that is looking for a different approach without neglecting the classic Poker gameplay. And of course, to those who like zombies.
OBJECTIVE
Design an interface that adjusts to the interaction of a regular/standard user (online poker player) following the patterns and flows indicated in the brief and obtain an aesthetic with the characteristics and styles specified by the client.
I used different genre apps and games as a reference to obtain a base for the structure. The distribution of the elements and components were positioned following a guide of 3 horizontal columns (top-user information, middle-content, and bottom-options and controls), ensuring that the elements do not interrupt visibility, affecting the interaction.
I chose a mix of colors - applied mostly in gradients, that conveyed the essence of the theme (this was more of a personal decision based on years of experience in zombies)
I leaned towards a playful tone without leaving aside the essence of the “monster/zombie” theme, giving high design priority to the images, font style, and colors.
Variations of green were used for backgrounds and gray as complementary colors for elements and details. Tried to use the icons as a detailed visual support for the theme without losing the definition or aesthetics of the component. The use of shadows helped generate separation and more contrast between elements.
The illustration was essential to obtain the desired tone, so an illustrator was commissioned to create different characters for decor, also used as avatars or profile pics.
APP MECHANIC
The game mechanics are simple, simulating poker games (Texas Holden) for up to 6 players simultaneously.
The modality is limited and free to play (under advertisement and promotions). When running out of starter/gift coins, the user must make a low-cost recharge or complete goals to obtain coins, they will also receive a basic daily recharge for daily re-entry.
